Why would I want a shopping mall on a ship? I would go to a shopping mall on land if I want to?
So the top 1% of people with wealth generate 2/3 of the world's air pollution. Maybe we could ban them from cruise ships?
That’s just part of life 🥰
I hate is the point of a. Raise purse if you need all those things to entertain you. How about relaxing and enjoying the fresh air and experience of a cruise. 🤷🏻♀️
Hit and run tourism. Aweful.
After 4 cruises I have enough
Bouts of gastric viruses and flus no longer I will tolerate
Yes it is not cheap but cruising is safer.
10,000 people… imagine that unloading on your city all at once, for a day.
yes i would
i would love to go on one but only if more evidence shows it doesnt cause mass pollution
Hard to take DW News seriously when it doesn't have an accurate map(2:22). Port Everglade is in Fort Lauderdale not Fort Myer. The result would show that 8.6M passengers sail out of Greater Miami . I don't trust their results if they don't do the most basic fact checks. Other issue is they did not provide citation for the data, was that before Marine Fuel standard being updated 2020. The comparison is not valid if it use pre-2020 data…the article also missed the importance of converting ports to using shore power. This is an editorial piece long on green morality, light on actual cited facts.
The title of this video is misleading. The title indicates it’s about why the cruise industry is expanding, but the overall content of this video has to do with the environmental impacts of cruise ships.
they're a giant floating petri dish 🤮
I would have liked to have heard about the economic and social factors leading to increased cruise business
I have cruised twice. One on Oasis of the Seas and in Allure of the Seas. I love both. I plan on going on an Asian cruise.
Cruise is awesome – something to do for every age! 🙂
I feel like so many people are wholly uneducated when it comes to regulations around shipping. The shipping industry has incredibly stringent rules and practices to follow through SOLAS, MARPOL and now the IMO is starting to come down hard on emissions. Just like all other sectors, we are trying to reduce our emissions through various environmental systems installed onboard. EGRs, SCRs, EGS- cruise ships are an easy target, but they are not the whole problem.
Whatever, still fun.
Couldnt think of a less attractive place to be – not even for vacation but in general. Crowded public spaces, generic ambiente and 0 experience of a place (except for a few hours in ports). I could spent my vacation in a shopping mall instead, about the same experience imo.
What carbon-free alternative to LNG and oil do cruise lines have that can compete on cost per unit of energy, energy density and availability across the globe?
