The bit about oncolytic viruses reminds me of an episode of House in which a kid, who was thought to have the miraculous gift of healing, gave his virus to a cancer patient. She was terminal, but after coming into contact with the boy, her cancer mysteriously got smaller. If I remember right, getting that virus had only bought her time. It didn't completely get rid of it. I dont remember what the virus was (feel free to reply and lmk).

If scientists are able to figure out how and why oncolytic viruses are able to specifically target and kill cancer cells, they could become a major key in creating a cure for cancer.

Hello kurgezagt, I love all your videos, but, can you dubbed it to other languanges, Indonesian to be specific.. My kids loves your animation, but I have to translate and tell them scenes by scenes to them, its really exhausting..

Imagine being a sentient cell in someone's intestine. You have a vague idea that they exist. But, your puny logic and reasoning and limited experience makes it unimaginable. You just have this vague, nebulous sense that something bigger exists out there. Likewise, the owner of the body would be just as oblivious to your existence as a single intestinal cell. They know you exist, but don't know about you, specifically. Nor do they care. Now imagine you, as the intestinal cell are dying. You're in terrible agony begging the body's owner for help. The body's owner being completely oblivious that you even exist, much less are suffering and about to die. And even if they were, there's nothing they could do. A cell that lives forever is literally cancer. As a cell, it's your lot to die at some point. Would the body's owner risk all of the hard work they put into getting their body healthy and fit and just the way they want it? Of course not. There are millions more where you came from.
