Why America’s tech war against China could backfire

Date:

The technological war run by the United States against China has the potential to backfire, accelerating the establishment of an independent computer chip industry in China that may compete directly with American producers.

U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration was hiring increasingly restrictive sanctions to forestall US and related chipmakers from selling their most advanced products to China.

These restrictions are intended to: preventing the Chinese military With development of more sophisticated weapons. However, the People’s Liberation Army uses only a few high-tech chips. The technology war appears to be aimed toward crippling China’s overall technological development and, by extension, its economic growth and prosperity.

Warning

Current American efforts the crippling of the Chinese telecommunications company Huawei may function a warning to the United States

US technology sanctions have damaged the corporate and its role because the world’s leading cell phone maker, but Huawei has reinvented himself as a cloud computing network company.

It also re-entered the cell phone market by introducing its own The Mate 60 phone boasts seven-nanometer technology designed and manufactured in China computer chips. U.S. technology restrictions were intended to maintain China from producing chips no larger than 14 nanometers in size, falling no less than eight to 10 years behind U.S. technology.

This achievement implies that China is gaining a bonus over the US

Western observers they claim to provide high-end microchips requires international cooperation.

Dutch ASML is the one company with the advanced lithography equipment mandatory to provide three-nanometer chips. ASML built its machine using technology from about seven other countries, and it took 20 years to bring it to market. Therefore, China is unlikely to succeed if it relies solely on itself to construct independent capabilities.

However, the essential understanding of how lithography works is well-known. China has developed its existing ASML equipment beyond its original capabilities and is a pioneer on this field innovative approach to lithography This may mean that China will mass produce high-end semiconductors in the long run.

The success of Chinese education

Most importantly, scientific knowledge can’t be held back, and China has made remarkable progress in its educational system.

Chinese highschool students in 4 wealthy provinces achieve the best scores on this planet in reading, science and arithmetic. According to , Chinese universities are “outperform institutions in the remaining of the world within the overwhelming majority of disciplines

It has been ranked in six of the highest 10 (and 11 of the highest 20) engineering schools on this planetand are in China, with Tsinghua University in Beijing in first place. Only two of the highest ten are Americans. It can also be expected that by 2025, there can be 77,000 science, technology, engineering and arithmetic (STEM) graduates in China.greater than twice as much as within the USA

China is burdened with this stereotype cannot innovate. But in 2022 China overtook the US for the primary time because the country or territory publishing probably the most scientific articles in prestigious nature journals.

China filled this gap extremely quickly, increasing the share of scientific articles by 21 percent from 2021 and 152 percent since 2016

According to the Japan National Institute of Science and Technology Policy: From 2018 to 2020, China published the most important variety of scientific articles yearlyand had a 27.2% share of the highest 1 percent of most cited articles on this planet in comparison with 24.9% for the United States

Survey conducted by Australian Strategic Policy Institute found that China leads in 37 of 44 cutting-edge technologies, including nanoscale materials and artificial biology. China too using industrial robots at 12 times the speed just like the US

Cannot be cut

This isn’t that sort of country will be reduced by cutting them off from technology. When it involves the exploitation and production of knowledge-based industries, China has more benefits than every other country on this planet.

The American actions will create a brand new generation of Chinese high-tech corporations that can compete directly with the American and Western corporations from which they bought their products. These corporations will produce products which can be cheaper than their Western counterparts could dominate the technological infrastructure within the Global South.

Chinese electric vehicles are the so-called probably the most advanced on this planetAND spreads to the remaining of the world. Even though U.S.-China direct trade has declined, China’s overall importance in world trade has increased.

Over the last 12 months, quite a few experts they declared that China’s economic collapse is inevitable. No query China is experiencing economic difficulties because it deals with deflationary pressures related to real estate, high local government debt and reduced consumer confidence.

No fall is imminent

But China’s critics have predicted its demise for a long time. China keeps confusing them and probably again. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has revised upwards China’s expected GDP growth rate in 2023 to five.4%. and expects growth of 4.6%. in 2024.

The IMF expects economic growth in China to proceed to slow in the long run, but this forecast doesn’t have in mind the technological potential the country is unlocking.

China may reap the benefits of the present debt crisis redirection of domestic investments from an unstable real estate market towards a productive and sustainable economy based on advanced technologies.

If so, U.S. efforts to suppress China could have created the conditions mandatory to make sure its success.
