The Invitation for the Council’s children gave San Diego a second straight thrilling championship game.
In the tournament, which was in just its second yr, Myles Colvin rebounded a missed jumper by Braden Smith and scored with 0.5 seconds left to give No. 13 Purdue an 80-78 victory over No. 23 Ole Miss on Friday.
Ole Miss missed the ball after a missed shot by Smith, and Colvin crossed from the left side, grabbed the rebound and provided the game-winner.

Trey Kaufman-Renn, chosen tournament MVP, had 25 points and 13 rebounds for Purdue (7-1), which gave it a 17-point lead in the primary half before ending the Rebels’ 19-game non-conference winning streak.
Ole Miss tied the sport with 78 seconds left on a Matthew Murrell layup with 14.7 seconds left. After two timeouts for Ole Miss and one for Purdue, the Boilermakers took the ground at UC San Diego’s LionTree Arena for the game-winning shot, with Smith scoring from the precise baseline and Colvin attacking to answer.
Colvin had 20 points and Smith 18 for Purdue, which won its fourth straight tournament during Thanksgiving week.

Jaemyn Brakefield scored 18 points for Ole Miss (6-1), which led 75-68 with 5:16 left after Jaylen Murray hit a three-pointer. Murrell scored 14 and Murray 13.
The Rebels trailed by 17 points with 9:40 before halftime after a flurry of Purdue three-pointers, then began getting hot from long range and led 42-34 at halftime. With 12:10 left, the Rebels took a 59-58 lead on two free throws by Dre Davis.
The call, which began in 2023, ended in a similar fashion last yr. Oklahoma outscored USC 72-70 on second-chance touch with lower than a second left.
The 2025 competition includes a Giant 12 from Kansas, recently crowned NCAA champions in 2022, joined by Florida (SEC), Providence (Big East) and Wisconsin (Big 10).
