The controversial and lawsuit-filled MrBeast Beast Games premiere next month. On Monday, the YouTuber shared a trailer for the reality competition show and announced that it’s going to air on Prime Video on December 19.
“I spent over a year creating this 10-episode competition series, breaking 40 world records, building the craziest sets in the history of entertainment, with 1,000 players and a grand prize of $5,000,000!” Mr. Beast he wrote. “This program will surprise you.”
“Start the timer!” MrBeast declares into the mic, then the teaser trailer shows the clips: Squid games– a contest show through which a thousand participants attempt to win a money prize. “Witness a competition show unlike any other.”
The trailer is revealed about two months after the five former contestants Beast Games filed a category motion lawsuit against the company producing the series.
The lawsuit was filed on the same day Rolling Stone published an investigation through which former players described unsafe working conditions and chaos. The grievance accused MrB2024 of “brazenly exploiting the labor” of lots of of participants and mischaracterizing their participation in the program as a way to avoid employment responsibilities – including fair pay and mandatory meal and rest breaks – under California law.
She claimed that female players experienced “unreasonable, unsafe and unlawful” working conditions, including being “sporadically and infrequently fed”, and that the women were victims of sexual harassment.
Another claim in the lawsuit said that “insufficient calorie intake” “endangers the health” of players. (One participant interviewed Rolling Stone stated that they received one “scoop of rice” during a 15-minute break in a 16-hour shift. Another AP agency claimed that “the catering service ran out of food several times”).
