Seeing these incredible ancient artifacts deliberately destroyed during wartime is really sad! The worst part is that this kind of wanton destruction is still being done right now. I hoped civilization had evolved past this kind of ignorant destructive behavior, but we haven’t. I’m currently worried about the ancient stone site of Baalbek, which is located in the city of Lebanon, where currently a violent war is taking place. I do hope it survives.
