  1. What I am really afraid of this upcoming election in November is that Gen Z and young voters won’t turn out because of President Joe Biden stance on the Israel/Gaza Conflict. I’ve heard some of my Colleagues from College saying that they will sit out this election or vote for a 3rd Party Candidate which in this case is RFK Jr. Young voters need to realize that if they vote for a 3rd Party Candidate that’s a win for Trump just like in 2016 all over again. I am not happy with Joe Biden stance on the current situation in Gaza but we shouldn’t take Trump dangerous rhetoric lightly. If he gets re-elected we deserve the consequences and I beg people to vote for President Joe Biden. Democracy, Women’s Reproductive Rights, LGBTQ+ Rights, everything is on the line in November. Don’t F this country up because of a one issue solution because Trump and the Republicans will not help the Palestinians problems. And remember Netanyahu and Hamas started this war not Joe Biden he’s tried to call for a ceasefire but Russia and China and both Netanyahu and Hamas recently rejected a ceasefire agreement. My brother served in the USMC and diplomacy takes time unfortunately. Please don’t give!!! ✨♥️🫶🏽

  2. As a front line healthcare Lab employee who worked during the whole lockdown period; the things we saw, felt and lived through was so difficult, especially due to all of the misinformation about Covid. I actually have more PTSD from the tRump experience and am terrified of what will happen if he actually gets into the White House again. Vote Blue people!!

  3. More than half the country is frozen in dire discomfort knowing a "cheat" is constantly manipulating the laws and boundaries which the rest of us live and abide by. Worst part, most of U.S. Christians support him if not worship him.

  4. I can attest that I was most definitely traumatized by his four year reign of words and actions. Waking up every morning with a feeling of dread and checking several news outlets to find out what the latest offense or disaster he had been up to, then worrying about the implications it would have on specific persons or the American people; on our country in any number of myriad ways; on our relationships with other countries, especially our allies; on the future of the world and/or specific countries; and how any of of this might affect me in particular. The time in between the election and the inauguration of President Biden was particularly terrifying because he had nothing to lose by committing any number of heinous acts, some if not many of which might be irrevocable.

Just writing this is frightening and creates considerable anxiety. Some might argue that I'm being a drama queen, however, the possibility of him being elected again, especially considering his personal agenda along with the plans the Heritage Foundation has determined require implementing, will destroy our democracy and set us on a path alarmingly similar to what has been going on in Hungary.

  5. One thing the pandemic really helped highlight is the paradox of the internet. Thanks to it, we are more connected than ever, and yet we are more isolated than ever.

  6. I am so sick of people using Australia as an example of good covid response. Australia was covid free for so long and yet the government did absolutely nothing to prepare for an inevitable outbreak. Australia didn't just close itself off from the rest of the world – they closed it off to AUSTRALIANS living abroad. They provided barely any assistance for people to return home and when they did they were forced into a 2 week hotel quarantine under police guard for thousands of dollars (not an option for many). And for all that suffering, when there was an outbreak, there were no tests available and vaccine availability was so many months behind most other developed countries. Living abroad I'd had my booster months before my family back home were able to get their first shots.

  7. Nooze fer yoooze. American has PTSD and CPTSD from bad parenting. We might have been re traumatized or have emotional flashbacks or be triggered by things that happen as adults, but if we had better parenting, we would react much differently to difficult or oppressive things that happen in present time. end of

  8. Really great interview. Thank you.
But as an Australian I would like to point out Morrison (Prime Minister) was our Trump at the time. He ignored all the warnings about an impending fire season and then skipped out on the bushfires by packing off to Hawaii for a holiday.
During the pandemic it was the state leaders and the unions who dragged Morrison and Co kicking and screaming to the get togethers and providing decent assistance to business and the jobless.
The State leaders were our heroes.
That is why Morrison was not reelected and he was censured in Parliament for other egregious things he was responsible for. I know the book is finished but I want it on the record Morrison was NOT the hero.

  9. All these talking points should be put into a viral meme. I'll prompt Gemini to see "How to design a viral meme" We all should flood social media with such (hmm, maybe one idea would be a quick # or a link on the "meme" to Biden v Trump issues with facts and citations)

  10. The only reason we, as a country, are traumatized is because during COVID we had an narcissistic stale Cheeto in charge of the country, whose best ideas were "it will go away, like magic", "inject bleach or sunlight into the body", and "try the horse medication". Oh…and made a vaccine but told people not to get it. COVID didn't cause any trauma. The colossal failure of our leadership definitely did, and still continues to today. Trump is the cancer that needs to be cut out of America/American life.

  11. I think some of the more rabid supporters of Donald Trump have a failure of memory. They want to go to these rallies and to feel a part of something. He gives them that he is an entertainer. But he is nothing more and a lot of them don't seem to have the discernment to want something more. I don't mean to and don't wish to sound dismissive of them but if you have been paying any attention to the news at all how can you support this man who pals around with dictators, who says he wants to end the Constitution, and who says that he wants to be a dictator from day one. How can you seriously want that kind of world except you don't believe that he really means it? And you think that the vengeance that he says he will unleash will be unleashed on someone else not you.

  12. Australian here, great discussion thank you. I love sociology.
We are pretty proud of our collective response during covid, thanks for mentioning how successful it was.
We had immunisation rates at +95% prior to covid, and we are on track to no cervical cancer here by 2030.
Australians share a very strong comradeship when it comes to our neighbours and communities. I personally think this is what helped us navigate the pandemic.
Had the government started saying crap like ‘inject bleach’ we would have demanded someone else be put in charge of governing.
That’s honestly when I thought the US should use their 25th amendment 😊

  13. Excellent guest!! Than you. ❤ historically we would get involved in a war and our loved ones would go away and we would unite again and boom the economy for everybody. I'm glad we didn't at least not yet

  14. Love this conversation as a social science & psychology grad who lived alone during the pandemic & struggled so much, YES, I have PTSD from Trump and Covid! Looking forward to reading the book!

  15. Really great guest for this one! I thoroughly enjoyed how thoughtful and empathetic the conversation was in regards to how covid restrictions turned some folks toward the right and radicalization.
