The problem with a better earth is not complex at all. For an exo planet to have rain forests means it has nature. This is an abundance of life forms that are well and truly evolved. The odds of intelligent life forms are very high considering the symbiotic relationships involved in making life so gracefully and violently beautiful. We would become an alien invasion . Who else isn't too happy about a take over. Colonialism should remain a terrible must we put behind us.

Of the 4,100 solar systems studied, not one looks like our solar system, able to support life. Almost all the 4,100 solar systems studied have Hot Jupiters. In normal planetary systems giant planets form beyond snow line and then migrated towards the star. A small percentage of giant planets migrate far from the star. In both types of migrations, any rocky planet like an earth is lost in these planetary migrations. Most stars do not have planets. Many stars are in bi-star systems, thus no earth-type planets. Thus we are alone.

Some Super-Earths are in habitable zone, but habitable zone is a liquid water zone, not a habitable zone for complex life. Life needs a lot more than water (atmosphere, protection from ultraviolet rays and radiation and much more). The Super-Earth plants found are too close the host star and the host star is too unstable to be in the habitable zone for complex life. Thus no life could live on a Super-Earth, despite its name. Also Super-Earth maybe rocky, but most are most likely gas giants.
