The Scottish Government has launched a new Digital Capacity Advisory Group (DCAG) to develop Scotland’s digital capability across the general public and third sectors.
In cooperation with Scottish Digital Academy and the Scottish Local Government Digital Office, DCAG will operate throughout the Scottish Government Digital Directorate.
The group may also act as an advisory and governing body for the Scottish Digital Academy, which provides guidance and training to enhance digital skills across the general public sector.
DCAG is an extension of Scotland’s Digital Academy stakeholder forum, whose guiding principles include enhancing digital skills and talent, in addition to collaboration and ensuring coherence of specific motion and national strategy.
The group has defined digital potential – its core ambition – through digital, data and technology skills underpinning the crucial people and infrastructure to support a thriving digital ecosystem,
DCAG’s objectives include a range of support initiatives, including the availability of recommendation and guidance on learning and training, with a deal with collective cross-cutting collaboration in procurement activities.
One of the groups’ key goals is to offer guidance on issues related to digital capability, including occupational management and vocational learning.
It is also intended to advocate for the adoption of resources and best practice from the Digital Scotland Service Manual, while acting as a ‘critical friend’ in difficult existing systems and recommending improvements.
It may also be tasked with ensuring the Scottish Government is informed of key developments in its transformation programs, in addition to providing insight into funding trends and opportunities for digital workplaces and organisations.
