It seems that Roborock is just not the one company that introduced a vacuum cleaner robot with a mechanical arm at CES 2025. Rival company Dreame, which earlier this week unveiled its stair-climbing robot vacuum cleaner, can also be working on a robot vacuum cleaner with a mechanical arm to lift objects.
According to the company, the device remains to be a prototype, but an unnamed robot vacuum cleaner might be seen on the Dreame booth at CES. Considering it’s still a prototype, the actual arm looked far more solid compared to the one on Roborock’s Saros Z70. It was much thicker and had a larger “claw” that looked prefer it could lift barely heavier objects. (Roborock claims its vacuum cleaner can lift an object weighing up to 300 grams.)
Unfortunately, Dreame didn’t show that he was actually grabbing anything, but I could see the arm extend and retract a few times. It appeared to be on a similar device to the X50, because the prototype vacuum cleaner also rocked on its “legs”, very similar to Dreame’s X50 climbing stairs.
A Dreame representative on the booth told me that the company has been working on a prototype for a while, but decided to speed up its plans for the vacuum at CES. After a quick glance up, I knew exactly what he meant: Dreame’s booth is directly across from Roborock, where a massive replica of the arm-armed Saros Z70 was on display at the highest of the booth.
Perhaps next 12 months we’ll witness two robots competing on vacuum arms.
