I’ve been playing since the game was released on consoles in 2016. I had numerous fun with this title, but after a few years it began to get boring. Then I also played the recent 5v5 mode with added characters, more maps, and a brand new playstyle. Over the years I’ve also tried other hero shooter style games like (RIP) and now.
is incredibly fun and brings back a 6v6 playstyle similar to the way it was at conception, with champions being “Vanguard”, “Duelist” or “Strategist”, that are all fancy names for tanks, DPS and healers. But it also has a fun story and Marvel superhero dynamics. You have the original Avengers solid, including Black Widow, Iron Man, Captain American, Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye, and even their antagonist, Loki. There are also many members of the Guardians of the Galaxy, including Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, and Mantis. There are also random characters you will have never heard of, like Jeff the Land Shark, Psylocke, and Squirrel Girl. For those only conversant in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, these characters come from Knowhere, but showcase a few of the wealthy lore of the Marvel Universe that has been embodied in comics, TV series, cartoons and films.
It’s fun to hear the characters talk to one another, equivalent to when Magneto talks to his daughter, Scarlet Witch, or when Peni Parker and Venom talk to one another. It is interesting and draws on a lot knowledge and context that just some can understand, but those interested can learn. Since the title draws from Marvel characters, there’s also loads of potential for future expansions. For example, I’d love to see Blade, Mister Fantastic, Miles Morales’ Spider-Man, War Machine, and possibly even Blue Marvel.
Apart from all this, the gameplay is enjoyable. You have classic shooting abilities like a personality who uses his ultimate ability to goal other characters while shooting, other characters who can create turrets, and, in fact, Loki can turn invisible. However, there are other fan-related facets equivalent to Spider-Man and Venom having the ability to swing of their webs, Storm and Iron Man flying around the map, and we have to speak about teaming up skills.
offers interesting opportunities to mix teams depending on the characters you play. For example, Rocket the Raccoon can climb onto Groot and shoot and heal from his arm. Hela can revive her two siblings if she is killed, and Spider-Man and Peni Parker can access the symbiote’s powers in the event that they play with Venom on their team. I believe it’s a pleasant touch that creates more synergy in the game and other elements of the experience. Instead of just going after the healers, it’s also possible to kill Hela, as she could otherwise resurrect Thor’s enemy.
Currently, the game needs more maps – it only has eight of them – but hopefully we’ll learn more soon. This might be my biggest grievance about the game: watching the same maps over and another time. On the other hand, certainly one of the things I like most about this title is the art style. Creative director Guangyun Chen, art director Dino Ma and artist Peach Momoko worked extremely hard on the title, and numerous it looks painted with brushstrokes, which provides the game character and makes it feel such as you’re playing characters from a comic book book – which I believe is the point . And although a few of the skins are expensive, they give the impression of being unbelievable.
I’m pleased to see myself replacing my love with this title. I can not wait to see what comes next by way of characters, maps, events, and whether there might be any potential recent game modes.
on Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC.
