A controversial artificial intelligence project price $500 billion was announced within the US. There is controversy over the quantity of funds allocated to the project. The announcement talked about constructing it over time.
Altimeter Capital conducted an evaluation of the $100 billion-a-year funds of Softbank, OpenAI and Oracle Stargate AI Data Center.
The project would launch in 2025 with roughly $3 billion in equity and ten billion in debt and 300,000 GPUs.
A $100 billion AI data center would want to secure 2 million Nvidia GPU chips yearly. $28 billion in equity capital would be needed. It would be three to at least one debt to equity.
By 2028, this might require 7.8 gigawatts.
Microsoft has began spending $80 billion a yr on AI data centers and artificial intelligence research. Microsoft’s growth over 6 years will be very much like the whole range of $480 billion. If Microsoft starts increasing its AI development and spending, then Microsoft’s operations should be larger than Softbank Stargate.
Stargate will begin constructing clusters in Abilene, Texas, and said it will construct in other, unspecified states and locations.
Oracle has already begun construction of an AI data center in Abilene.
Kevin O’Leary leads a gaggle constructing a $70 billion AI data center in northern Alberta, Canada. This is one other major AI project that has continued to lift funds for years. They are also using massive amounts of natural gas energy to finish the huge project.
The first phase of the Wonder Valley Alberta project features a $2 billion investment that is predicted to deliver 1.4 GW of power. The next phases will ensure a rise in redundant capability by 1 GW per yr. Once fully operational, Wonder Valley is predicted to have a capability of seven.5 GW. The project’s planned 35 million square feet of space across 58 buildings will make it the biggest AI data center on the earth.
The energy scale of the Alberta project is comparable to that of the potential Stargate project. Alberta hasn’t priced AI GPU chips because they need hyperscaling partners.
Interestingly, the size of the AI Alberta energy project is comparable to Altimeter Capital’s estimates for Stargate through 2028.
