Delayed and missing Apple Intelligence features in iOS 18 are currently within the highlight for Apple relating to iPhone software, with the following batch of AI additions expected to reach in iOS 18.4 this spring. This is not surprising considering Apple has already teased the discharge schedule.
More surprising are the negative effects of Apple Intelligence development mentioned in newer reports. Insiders say iOS 19 will see feature release delays just like what Apple did with iOS 18.
For example, Apple’s Siri LLM chatbot, just like ChatGPT, could also be unveiled at WWDC 2019 next summer, but will reportedly not be released until spring 2026. This is because Apple software engineers are still working on other Apple Intelligence features that don’t they’re still ready.
As a result, some iOS 19 features could also be delayed, although reports don’t indicate what this will be. However, I’m sure Apple may also develop non-AI features for iOS 19 to extend the platform’s usability and provide recent features to the tens of millions of iPhone users with devices that do not support Apple Intelligence.
While we wait for more significant iOS 19 leaks, we have already got concept videos from designers imagining what features Apple could bring to the iPhone in 2025. As at all times with concept videos, I’ll indicate that these don’t feature confirmed or existing products.
However, I did like two tricks the designer got here up with for his iOS 19 video: an improved solution to share images via AirDrop and Apple Intelligence support for iPhone screenshots.
The video lasts only 77 seconds and imitates the iOS presentation that Apple may prepare in reference to a new edition of the software. The concept covers various ideas that make sense for the evolution of iOS, especially when it comes to customization.
Apple added some recent ways for iPhone users to customize the user interface in iOS 18, just like what Android has offered for years. It’s easy to assume that Apple will expand the customization options offered to iPhone users.
A designer has give you a solution to add stickers to the lock screen, which some iPhone users may appreciate. Similarly, the concept is to support custom backgrounds in iMessage, something other chat apps offer. Interestingly, this personalization option would turn the characteristic blue messages typical of iMessage into any color option. I’m undecided Apple would ever need to lose this key design element.
then showcases iOS 19 features that may be more useful than the above UI customization options. The designer got here up with a gesture called Flick that means that you can transfer images from one iPhone to a different via AirDrop. Flick looks very just like the NameDrop contact sharing feature that Apple has already added to iOS.
As someone who shares quite a lot of content via AirDrop between my Apple devices, I’d like to have a gesture like Flick work in iOS 19. Just select a file or group of files and move them to a different device. You’ll probably still need a confirmation screen to avoid by accident sharing with strangers.
Finally, the concept video suggests that Apple may add Apple Intelligence support to screenshots. I also often take screenshots of things I find online on my iPhone, which generally is a pain to administer and even remember. This is where artificial intelligence might help. Apple Intelligence can store information and make it available when I want it.
Microsoft developed something like this with this in mind, the already infamous Recall feature. Google has created a brand new screenshot app for Pixel phones that takes a distinct, more useful approach.
The concept video shows how Apple Intelligence can extract information from a screenshot, equivalent to a QR code, without using the more advanced features that I care about.
That said, I would definitely appreciate that Apple developed iOS 19 features just like the designer’s imagination, especially the Flick trick and smarter screenshots.
