Three predictions: Michigan, Stewart, Sanders
Rivals National Recruiting Director Adam Gorney offers three essential predictions for Michigan State’s quarterback situation: five-star defensive lineman Jahkeem Stewart and five-star offensive tackle David Sanders Jr.
1. Michigan won’t be sorry that every one the opposite QBs fled after getting Bryce Underwood.
Even before Underwood backed out LSU to Michigan, the Wolverines lost the commitment of four-star quarterback Carter Smith, who had since starred at Wisconsin.
And then, on Friday in 2026, four-star quarterback Brady Hart of Cocoa, Florida, modified his commitment from the Wolverines to Texas A&M.
These two defeats hurt. But Underwood is price it. The standout from Belleville, Michigan is probably going the No. 1 prospect within the 2025 class, an especially dynamic and game-changing quarterback who immediately becomes Ann Arbor’s QB1.
Michigan went all-in on Underwood – literally. Smith backed out of his commitment when rumors about Underwood, the Oracle billionaire, began Larry Ellison he provided an enormous chunk of the NIL money, a Michigan alum Dave Portnoy prepared a marketing plan, and Underwood, who had been indifferent to the Wolverines throughout his recruitment, transferred to Michigan.
He’s been such a game-changer for a Wolverines offense that has been struggling this season that it will be truly shocking if he didn’t start on day one.
2. Jahkeem Stewart will sign with USC.
These rumors had been circulating for about per week USC he took the lead in Stewart’s recruitment and that was huge news because Oregon, LSU and Ohio State were the opposite top contenders and it was really hard to get firm information on his recruitment.
I’m told the Trojans felt uncertain about their position against five-star defensive lineman Edna Karr of New Orleans (La.), but Stewart was scheduled to go to Ohio State that weekend, but that visit never happened.
This could also be attributable to NIL’s lack of cash, but Stewart has an important relationship together with his position coach Larry Johnson.
Oregon can never be counted out completely, and if Stewart makes a really late visit to LSU before Wednesday’s National Signing Day, perhaps all bets are off, but USC is clearly the favourite heading into the finals straight away.
3. David Sanders Jr. will transfer to Ohio State.
Last weekend, Sanders made a surprise visit to Ohio State. He met with the coach Ryan Day before leaving town, he was traded to NFL development offensive linemen including Josh Simmons and Donovan Jackson, in addition to Paris Johnson, who was the sixth overall pick within the 2023 draft. This was said to be emphasized Tennessee on this respect he was not that successful.
There has been some speculation that the Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day standout could return to Columbus this weekend, and if that happens against Michigan, it appears to be a foregone conclusion.
Tennessee is not going to present up easily, as volunteers have been involved since August and don’t have any resources either, but now it should be a fight to the tip. What looked like a tent in Tennessee is now at risk because things could get really interesting here.
