FOUR DOWN
Conway is just beginning to use his size advantage to good effect against his smaller opponent, controlling the space with a stiff jab and then unlocking his previous punch within the fight with an enormous right hand early within the fourth quarter. But Kelly responds with certainly one of her own and appears to break Conway’s nose. This one heats up nicely.
20:46:46
‘PIECE OF CAKE’
…That’s the scream from Kelly’s corner because the Birmingham fighter finishes the second round. That was good for him too, as he forces Conway back to the ropes before landing one particularly eye-catching right hand. Conway wears it well though.
20:43:22
EVEN MONEY
Both men immediately went on the attack in the primary three minutes. Kelly lands a tough right hand and Conway responds with a left hook. We are entering the second.
20:37:14
NEXT: COMMONWEALTH MIDWEIGHT TITLE
After these exciting 10 rounds, tonight we move straight into the primary of two 12-round rounds. The vacant Commonwealth middleweight title is on the road when Kieron Conway 21-3-1 takes on local favorite Ryan Kelly (19-4-1). This could possibly be one other one that can last a protracted time.
20:27:19
VUONG 10!
On the scorecards: Victor Loughlin 97-94, Lee Every – 96-95, Mark Lyson – 96-94 – all in favor of still undefeated Cameron Vuong. Gwynne looks gutted, and that is no surprise considering how he was pushing the motion throughout. When the choice is read, there may be a roar from the group and Vuong roars with delight. He simply passed the test and marched on.
20:24:19
IT’S ALL OVER
What a terrific fight and a terrific effort by each fighters who gave their all during these 10 rounds. But certainly one of them has to lose – or perhaps it is a draw? We are waiting for the choice…
20:19:06
VUONG BREATHES!
Vuong hits a terrific ninth round, right when he needed it. Although Gwynne is the one pushing forward your entire time, Vuong manages to remain in shape and drop his opponent with some hard right hands. Gwynne now ends the round bleeding from a cut under her right eye.
20:16:05
TWO LEFT
Another energy-sapping round passes, Gwynne still on the attack, and Vuong just trying to realize the advantage. Vuong pedals back and smiles at Gwynne during certainly one of the transient moments of breath he allows himself during turn eight. Before sending Vuong out for the ninth inning, Moore tells Vuong, “That’s damn close, we need those two rounds.”
20:12:11
CONSTANT PRESSURE
Not much on the punches, but Gwynne keeps landing on Vuong, who spends a lot of the seventh round struggling against the ropes but just attempting to defend himself. At the tip of the round he manages to reply with several right hands, but will or not it’s enough to win within the eyes of the judges?
20:09:11
“ALL OR NOTHING”
Lockett tells Gwynne, “It’s all or nothing now,” as we approach the seventh round, however the injuries around his left eye have gotten more and more troublesome. Yet it continues to progress and doesn’t seem like abating in any respect. Vuong has to work every second of each round to maintain him at bay, but he defends well.
20:04:38
WYNNE CUTTING
Gwynne suffers a cut round her left eye and the referee confirms it was sustained by a blow. The corner, led by Gary Lockett, did a terrific job heading into the sixth inning. At the halfway point, it’s still a fight for everybody.
20:00:18
WE KNEW THIS WOULD HAPPEN
“We knew this was going to be hard,” Jamie Ward says to his boxer Vuong within the corner, “and that is exactly what it’s, with Gwynne still refusing to ease the pressure. We’ll see what exactly 22-year-old Vuong can do as we enter the fifth round of 10.
19:53:09
LOW PRESSURE
It’s a fast start for Gwynne, who doesn’t give Vuong any respiration space, continuously pushing him down along with her hands within the air and attempting to close the gap. The query is, can he maintain this manner for 10 rounds if Vuong doesn’t disintegrate? This could possibly be a dangerous strategy for the Welshman.
19:48:18
PATIENT START
Gwynne straight onto the front foot, marching forward and attempting to put pressure on Vuong, making him work. The 22-year-old is doing well though, using his jab to good effect to settle comfortably into the primary round.
19:44:21
GWYNNE IS BACK…
This is simply Gwynne’s twenty first fight, but he has already added British, Commonwealth and European champion titles to his CV. This is his first fight since he was stopped by Mark Chamberlain in his fourth fight in August. Will he manage to return back here? Round one will start soon.
19:42:28
VUONG is coming
In an interview with Boxing News earlier this yr, Eddie Hearn suggested that Cameron Vuong was amongst a small group of fighters within the UK who could turn into pay-per-view stars. Tonight he could have the hardest fight of his profession up to now as he faces former European champion Gavin Gwynne within the 10+ category.
19:32:56
LET’S GO TO THE SCORECARD…
And it is a victory for Uddin, who wins 59-56 after referee Pete McCormack’s card. A solid victory for Uddin, who already leads 3-0. Big credit to Benn Norman who, in accordance with the judge, only won one round there, nevertheless it was also a rousing display from him. Next step up for Cameron Vuong…
19:29:00
FINAL OBSTACLE
Norman’s strong fifth place reminds Uddin that this fight will not be won yet. He comes out in the highest of the sixth and hits an enormous right hand. Can he consolidate the win with a robust final round here?
19:24:03
TWO LEFT
Four down, two at this point, and Uddin in front. He lands a low blow right on the bell to finish the fourth round, but apologizes for it. Norman said in his corner that he had two rounds to alter his life. We’ll see if he shoots it here.
19:19:46
FIGHT ACTION
Norman clearly is not here simply to catch up. He accompanies Uddin every step of the best way, and within the third round he even lands an enormous left hook himself. Uddin is on top here, nevertheless it’s not a chunk of cake. We’re entering the fourth.
19:11:26
QUICK START
Uddin got straight to the purpose, seeking to take the lead with a right uppercut and then follow it up with an enormous left hook, which he does a couple of times, but Norman holds it together your entire first time. This one is scheduled for six.
19:07:32
THE PROOF IS IN UDDIN
Hamza Uddin, a former eight-time national champion as an amateur and now a 2-0 skilled, looks truly impressive. His goal is to turn into the primary ever British-Bangladeshi world champion – and I would not count it out. The next step on this journey might be a fight against Norman, whose dad Shaun once boxed Naseem Hamed!
19:05:39
