The iconic Filipino boxing star of Manny Pacquiao will end its 4 -year pension on the age of 46 to fight Mario Barrios for his WBC welterweight title, ESPN said on Thursday.
Unidentified sources informed the American sports network that the fight can be questioned in Las Vegas on July 19.
Pacquiao, who won 12 world titles in eight different weight classes, has not fought from the deduction of a unanimous 12-round decision on the Cuban Jordenis Ugas for the Crown of WBA WBA on August 21, 2021 in Las Vegas.
ESPN announced that the president of WBC Mauricio Sulaiman said last week throughout the fight in Saudi Arabia that Pacquiao planned to fight Barrios for the crown in July, and the Asian star was already cleared of fighting by Nevada’s state sports commission.
The WBC rules allow the previous master to fight for the title of world champion when leaving a pension.
Pacquiao is to be introduced to the International Gallery of Fame next month, and within the Philippines next week will face the Senate elections.
