Former Georgia quarterback Carson Beck is returning to school for a sixth season after committing to play at Miami (Fla.) in 2025, although he recently declared for the 2025 NFL Draft.
He announced the decision on Friday After reports Earlier this week, news broke that Beck had entered the college football transfer portal and was considering all his options. Beck has reportedly signed a contract with the Canes.
The senior signal-caller spent five seasons at Georgia, serving as Stetson Bennett’s backup on the school’s 2021 and 2022 championship teams, and spent the last two as the Bulldogs’ starter. Beck accomplished 68% of his passes for 7,912 yards, 58 touchdowns and 12 interceptions during his college profession. He appeared in 39 games for Georgia, 27 of them over the last two seasons, giving them a combined record of 24-3.
He is recovering from elbow surgery following a season-ending injury during Georgia’s December SEC championship game win over Texas. The Bulldogs then lost to Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals with Gunner Stockton under center.
Miami, which had a 10-3 record and was losing out on drafting quarterback and Heisman Trophy finalist Cam Ward, was considered one among the favorites to land Beck in the portal, according to ESPN. On the other hand, Beck has received feedback that the report suggests he might have been chosen anywhere in the first or third round of this yr’s draft.
Beck, a former four-star recruit, currently heads the 2026 quarterback class alongside Penn State’s Drew Allar and LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier, amongst others.
