NEW ORLEANS – Victims are being identified after New Year’s Eve celebrations turned deadly following mass killings and dozens of hospitalizations. The FBI identified the suspect as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, of Texas.
Here’s what we all know concerning the victims:
Nikyra Cheyenne Dedeaux
Nikyra Cheyenne Dedeaux, 18, was identified as one of the 14 people killed within the attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans.
Dedeaux was on the town from Gulfport together with her cousin and friend to have a good time the New Year. Dedeaux, called “Cheyenne” by her family, mustn’t be in New Orleans, her mother told NOLA.com. She said she snuck out together with her 18-year-old cousin and their friend Zion Parson, 18.
Martin “Tiger” Bech
Also killed was Martin “Tiger” Bech, 27, a graduate of St. Peter’s Catholic High School. Thomas More from 2015. The school released a press release following his death. According to him, Bech, the older brother of former LSU player Jack Bech, was on life support until his family arrived NOLA.com.
Reggie Hunter
Baton Rouge, father of two was identified as Reggie Hunter, 37. According to NOLA.com, Hunter went to Bourbon Street “on a whim” to ring within the New Year along with his cousin. His cousin, Shirell Jackson, said he and his cousin were hit. Hunter died from his injuries, and his cousin was amongst 35 hospitalized.
A GoFundMe has been arrange to assist the family Hunter’s funeral costs.
The school said a UGA student also suffered serious injuries within the terrorist attack and is currently receiving medical care. A GoFundMe has been arrange to assist the family with funeral costs.
Nicole Perez
A 28-year-old mother from Metairie also died within the attack, authorities said NOLA.com. Perez had just been promoted to manager at Kimmy’s Deli in Lakeway, where she worked, her boss said. Her four-year-old son is under the care of relatives. She was remembered as a great mother and desired to succeed. AND GoFundMe was arrange by her manager, Kimberly Usher, to cover her and her son’s funeral expenses.
Mateusz Tenedorio
Matthew Tenedorio, 25, was killed. “He was the youngest of two siblings. His family claimed he was an audiovisual technician at the Superdome. GoFundMe was created to help with funeral costs. “Matthew Tenedorio was tragically shot in a devastating terrorist attack in New Orleans,” his family wrote on GoFundMe.

Kareem Badawi
One of two Baton Rouge Episcopal School graduate victims died from his injuries, WBRZ reported. A prayer service might be held on the Lewis Family Memorial Chapel on Thursday at 6 p.m. Parker Vidrine was seriously injured within the attack.

Hubert Gauthreaux
The death of 21-year-old Hubert Gauthreaux, a 2021 graduate of Archbishop Shaw High School, in keeping with multiple members of the family. NOLA.com. The family initially wrote that he was missing social media.

Drew Dauphin
Drew Dauphin, an Auburn University graduate, has been identified because the victim of the Bourbon Street attack, in keeping with Auburn University President Christopher Brooks.
In a press release, the college said Drew Dauphin, a 2023 graduate, died within the attack.
“Words cannot express the sadness the Auburn family feels for Drew’s family and friends during this unimaginably difficult time,” Brooks said.
Billy DiMaio
Billy DiMaio, 25, also died within the attack. in keeping with our partners at NOLA.com.
“He was a great, humble child. He loved life,” Father DiMaio told our partners.
DiMaio is the director of sales at Audacy in New York. Audacy is a national media company that owns and operates radio stations in New Orleans, including B97, Bayou 95.7 Magic 101 and WWL Radio.
“Billy started with the company two years ago as an Account Manager in New York and was recently promoted to Account Executive on the National Enterprise and Direct Response team. He was greatly loved, respected and appreciated,” Audacy CEO David Field wrote in a memo to employees.
“Beyond his professional achievements, Billy will be fondly remembered for his unwavering work ethic, positive attitude and kindness. He was a real asset to the Audacy team and his contribution and presence will be greatly missed. It was clear to everyone that Billy had the talent and character to ensure a bright future, and his sudden passing left a deep void in the hearts of all who knew and worked with him. Our thoughts are with Billy’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time. We offer our deepest condolences to them and to every member of the Audacy family who had the honor of working with him.”

Terrence Kennedy
According to CBS, Nola native Terrence Kennedy, 63, also died within the attack. This was confirmed by his wife Jacqueline CBS News that her husband died. According to CBS, the family claims that before identifying the stays, they called all of the hospitals trying to seek out him.
His niece, Monisha James, stated in a Facebook post that he was referred to as “Terry” and that he was a sort and calm man.
