NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a pursuit and crash that injured 4 people in Algiers.
NOPD leaders said officers stopped a red two-door Audi on the intersection of General Meyer Avenue and Kabel Drive around 4 p.m.
Officers said the automobile matched the outline sought in a homicide investigation that occurred on March 18 at 3000 General Meyer Avenue.
Initial findings show that the driving force didn’t stop and fled the scene.
NOPD leaders said officers then requested and received permission to pursue the vehicle.
The chase ended on the intersection of MacArthur Boulevard and Kabel Drive when the Audi collided with a silver SUV.
An off-duty policeman and two children were traveling in the SUV. The officer didn’t participate in the pursuit.
All three people in the SUV were taken to an area hospital as a precaution.
The driver of the suspect vehicle was transported to an area hospital for statement.
No further details were provided. This is an ongoing investigation.
