NEW ORLEAN — The City of New Orleans is reminding residents that recent curbside garbage and recycling collection agreements for Areas 1 and Area 4 will go into effect on Monday, April 1. The recent agreements with IV Waste and Richard’s Disposal include a seven-year agreement with the City of New Orleans to provide enhanced collection services to residents Area 1 and Area 4.
“We are excited to begin new waste collection agreements in Area 1 and Area 4, which will provide service parity across the city,” he said Sanitation Director Matt Torri. “This administration has demonstrated its commitment to cleaning up our city and providing much-needed, improved services to our residents.”
Under the brand new contracts, IV Waste and Richard’s Disposal will introduce completely recent equipment together with additional types of equipment to facilitate the efficient collection of bulky waste and furniture. All devices will use a real-time GPS tracking system, 360-degree camera system and route management technologies. IV Waste and Richard’s Disposal will service the contracts through dedicated, full-time employees who will receive comprehensive advantages packages and worker safety programs.
IV Waste will serve households in Area 1, which incorporates Uptown, Lakewood, Hollygrove, Leonidas, Mid-City, Gert Town, Marlyville-Fontainebleau, Black Pearl, Lower Garden District and Central City. Richard’s Disposal will serve households in Area 4, which incorporates Algiers Point, McDonogh, Whitney, Fischer, U.S. Naval Base, Behrman, Tall Timbers-Brechtel, Old Aurora and New Aurora-English Turn.

You can see our new trucks driving around your area as they practice on routes before our contract starts on April 1st. The door hanger with magnet must be delivered to residents of these neighborhoods before April 1, in conjunction with the brand new garbage and recycling collection day. Residents may visit nola.gov/sanitation-collection-schedules/ to see the brand new collection day.
Starting April 1, residents will have the opportunity to call 3-1-1 or visit the power nola311.org request a second waste bin as part of the prolonged contractual services. Residents will proceed to use existing waste bins. The city is also reminding residents who haven’t yet requested a curbside recycling cart to achieve this through the 3-1-1 line. There is no charge for residents for a second waste bin or recycling cart.
