The annual Grand Tour is thought for bringing the perfect wines from world wide to the perfect food and wine destinations, and in 2024, the event will visit New Orleans for the primary time in its history. Over 200 of the world’s best wines will land within the Crescent City on April 26.
Attendees will have the chance to taste amazing wines, all of which have been rated over 90 on Wine Spectator’s 100-point scale by the magazine’s experienced tasters. They will also give you the option to try dishes from three of the world’s best wine restaurants – Brennan’s, Emeril’s and Commander’s Palace.
This 12 months, for the primary time, the Grand Tour will come to New Orleans, arguably America’s most dynamic city in relation to food and wine. The city is home to over 22 Restaurant Award winners and boasts a few of the perfect wines and menus within the country.
“We wanted to introduce the event and the unique wineries participating to new cities and wine lovers across the country,” said Marvin R. Shanken, editor and publisher of Wine Spectator.
The ticket provides unlimited tastings, so consumers can taste wines from the perfect regions of the world, from France, Italy, Portugal, California and more. A VIP ticket gives guests an additional hour for tasting and meeting with winemakers who come to share their wines.
“I know a lot of winemakers who are excited to come to New Orleans for the Grand Tour because they know it’s a city known for great food and great wine,” said Mitch Frank, senior editor of reports and New Wine at Wine Spectator. A resident of Orleans since 2010.
The New Orleans Grand Tour will kick off on April 26, when the Crescent City will have fun the annual New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival – two weeks of musical, cultural and culinary revelry.
“Jazz Fest ends in the early evening, so the Grand Tour is the perfect setting for a great evening of wine,” Shanken said. “We are excited to offer residents and visitors an exceptional wine experience during one of New Orleans’ most beloved weekends.”
The vineyards participating within the competition include the Italian Argiano, whose Brunello di Montalcino was Wine of the Year 2023, in addition to lots of the 100 best wineries from 2023 and former years. Leading wineries include Antinori, Louis Roederer Champagne, Beaucastel Castle, Mr. Chapoutier, E. Guigal, Louis Latour House, Frescobaldi Marchesi, Fontodi, Aldo Conterno Winery, Muga Winery, Louis M. Martini Winery, Caymus, Rombauer, Stag’s Leap, Taylor Flaggate and lots of others.
Chefs from Emeril’s, Commander’s and Brennan’s will be preparing small plates for tasting within the evening. All three restaurants are winners of the Wine Spectator Grand Award, which recognizes the perfect restaurants in wine and hospitality world wide. Currently, only 93 restaurants can boast this honor.
