LAS VEGAS — The end is near for perfect brackets in the women’s NCAA Tournament, and that number is down to 4 figures after Saturday’s first games.
That number dropped to 6,010 after eighth-seeded Kansas defeated No. 9 Michigan 81-72 in additional time.
Only 1.7% of them were perfect on the CBS website. CBS doesn’t report totals.
Among the brackets uploaded to the CBS website, South Carolina is the favourite, but many also consider in Caitlin Clark and Iowa. The Gamecocks were picked with 41.5% of the CBS votes to win the NCAA Tournament, followed by Iowa with 29.6%.
This is followed by a significant decline, with USC coming in second at 4.2%. Last yr’s champion, LSU, has 3.2% of the vote.
Sheldon Jacobson, who runs the web site Bracketodds, said carrying chalk with the women’s group was simpler than with the lads.
