NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Officials with the Martin Luther King Jr. Planning Commission. town of New Orleans announced an upcoming program of events to honor the late civil rights leader.
This yr the vacation falls on Monday, January 20.
To honor Dr. King’s “enduring vision of justice, equality and peaceful social change,” the celebration’s theme, “A Time to Break the Silence: African Roots/American Fruits,” is meant to focus on the interconnectedness of African heritage and its profound impact on America, city officials say.
