NEW ORLEANS – Governor Landry issued an executive order Friday declaring a period of mourning on New Year’s Day for the victims of the tragic terrorist attack in New Orleans. The order requires that every one flags on state buildings be flown at half-staff on designated days to honor and commemorate each innocent person executed.
“Louisiana will never forget the 14 innocent victims and the terrible scenes that occurred on January 1,” Governor Landry said in a statement. “Yet Louisiana and its people will never cower in fear. Instead, we will unite and come back stronger to honor every person who lost their life that day.”
The executive order will probably be amended as needed to include any victims once their names are made public.
These are the days when each sacrifice will probably be remembered:
Monday, January 6
- In memory of Kareem Badawi
Tuesday, January 7
- In memory of Martin “Tiger” Bech
Wednesday, January 8
- In memory of Drew Dauphin
Thursday, January 9
- In memory of Nikyra “Cheyenne” Dedeaux
Monday, January 13
- In memory of Hubert Gauthreaux
Tuesday, January 14
- In memory of Reggie Hunter
Wednesday, January 15
- In memory of Nicole Perez
