NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – A robust cold front is bringing much colder weather to the northern Gulf Coast region, with freezing temperatures and gusty winds dominating the forecast.
Overnight lows are expected to fall into the 30s, with some areas north of Lake Pontchartrain expected to drop below freezing. Winds from the northwest, gusting to 35 mph, will make it feel even colder, with temperatures more likely to be within the low to mid 20s.
The National Weather Service has issued a chilly weather advisory for the world that can remain in effect through Monday morning.
Monday will bring sunny skies but little warmth as temperatures are expected to remain within the 30s to 40s despite loads of sunshine. Winds will remain strong through Monday, causing much more cold.

Temperatures will drop again Monday evening, with lows within the 20s to 30s. Frost is anticipated in lots of areas through mid-week, especially Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. Daytime highs will struggle to interrupt above the mid-40s for a lot of the week.
Rain probabilities will return later within the week as a developing system within the Gulf brings moisture back to the world. While no wintry precipitation is anticipated, heavy rainfall is more likely to cause localized flooding in urban and low-lying areas on Friday.
The National Weather Services advises residents to bundle up and take precautions to guard pets, plants and pipes from freezing.
