“This is something that happens to many women who are blamed when they dare to leave an unhealthy relationship and are labeled as unfaithful,” Ms. Bündchen said. “They have to deal with their communities. They have to deal with their family. Of course, in my case it’s just a little bit amplified.
Ms. Bündchen waved away the details of her previous relationship to make a broader point. “No one really knows what’s going on between two people, only the two people in the relationship,” she said. She noted that she has been divorced for almost 18 months. By this time, Mr. Brady seemed to have moved on. Now she did it too.
Yes, she confirmed, she is dating someone, it’s something new, and she is protective. “It’s the first time I’ve seen someone who was my friend,” she said. “It’s very different. It’s very honest and very transparent.”
Life goes on
Before her surgeries, Mrs. Bündchen vowed to alter her health. Long before most Americans realized juicing could possibly be a verb, Ms. Bündchen was drinking vegetables. She was very religious about training, constructing a pickleball court and a yoga pavilion at her beach resort in Costa Rica. Now she focused on her strength.
When the movers got here to pack up the home she shared with Mr. Brady, she demonstrated her newfound power by lifting boxes and unfolding furniture. She carried the table out to the truck. “These guys! If you saw their faces,” she said, “they said, ‘You’re crazy.'”
Her twin sister Patricia confirmed Mrs. Bündchen’s handiness and perseverance. “He can hammer nails, screws, sand and fix anything,” she wrote in an email. “She really gets her hands dirty.”
