An enormous fire broke out at the car parking zone of Varanasi Cantt Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh on Friday evening, police said, resulting in significant damage to several vehicles.
According to the Varanasi police, greater than 50 bicycles were burnt in flames. Visuals from the scene show the devastating impact, with several vehicles completely destroyed by the fire. Authorities confirmed that the flames were finally extinguished the identical day.
One of the assistant locomotive pilots at the station, Ravi Ranjan Kumar, shared his concern over the loss. “I parked my vehicle here two days ago while going to my duties and now when I came back, I saw that my vehicle was completely burnt. I had an Activa and I always parked my vehicle there. This is done just for us so that government employees can display their vehicles here,” he told ANI.
Kumar, visibly upset, added: “It was my main mode of daily transportation and now I cannot recognize my vehicle due to the fire.”
Another locomotive pilot, Shantraj, also lost his vehicle in the flames. “After returning from duty, I saw that every vehicle was damaged. We can be called to our duties at any time and we have to come, so sometimes you can’t catch transport late at night, so some people will have more difficulties because people also don’t get in their car late at night when winter comes,” he added. he said.
The reason behind the fire is under investigation and authorities are still assessing the total extent of the damage. Further updates are expected.
