Germany encouraged to revive innovation and increase economic growth for a stronger Europe
Gütersloh, Germany – at the last press conference of Bertelsmann Stiftung presented its proposals for future growth and prosperity of Germany. The Foundation, a non-profit organization involved in shaping the future, emphasized the importance of innovation and digital sovereignty for stable democracy and competitive Europe.
According to the chairman of the board of Bertelsmann Stiftung Hannes Ametsreiter, a powerful and balanced market economy is the basis of stable democracy and social cohesion. “We can’t let the future just happen; we must shape it,” he said.
To achieve this, Bertelsmann Stiftung recommends increasing investments in research and innovations at the least 3.5% of the domestic national product of the country. They also propose higher use of the entrepreneurial potential of society and encouraging the young generation to take part in politics.
“We must strengthen the trust of the population in politics and democracy, promoting a greater participation and implementing bold reforms,” said Daniela Schwarzer, a member of the board. She also emphasized the importance of protecting democratic institutions and disinformation.
In addition to national funds, Bertelsmann Stiftung emphasizes the need for a powerful and sovereign Europe. They offer initiatives similar to treating data as an innovation resource and securing critical digital infrastructure using European regulations.
“We need a digital sovereign Europe that reduces technological dependencies and priority treats the rules of the rule of law, sustainable development, tolerance, diversity and common good,” said Brigitte Mohn, a member of the board.
Bertelsmann Stiftung, founded in 1977 by Reinhard Mohn, is involved in promoting education, democracy, digitization, future in Europe and sustainable social market economy. They call on all interested parties to cooperate to make sure Germany’s return to pioneering innovation and leading role in Europe.
