Hyundai Genesis presents a fully electric SUV concept – Neolun

NEW YORK – Hyundai Genesis previews the longer term of the increasingly renowned luxury brand with the disclosing of a large latest all-electric concept vehicle called Neolun.

The full-size SUV features a sleek exterior styling illuminated by long, horizontal headlights and taillights which might be paying homage to the brand’s current electric vehicles, although more modern.

The interior of Neoluna – derived from the Greek “neo”, meaning latest, and the Latin “luna”, meaning moon – is minimalist in comparison with many recent concepts that feature door-to-door screens. The SUV has a large central screen with physical buttons below it and a control panel and knob on the driving force’s right side.

The front seats of the vehicle could be turned towards the rear passengers to create space within the lounge.

“The Neolun Concept is a conceptual model that represents Genesis’ future vision, as well as the overall direction of the brand in terms of product, design and technological advancements,” Genesis said in an emailed statement.

Automakers routinely use concept vehicles to gauge customer interest or to point the longer term direction of a vehicle or brand. The vehicles are usually not intended on the market to consumers.

The company declined to disclose whether the vehicle is a preview of an upcoming large, all-electric SUV for Genesis, which is expanding its U.S. lineup

U.S. sales of Genesis rose 23% last yr to a record 69,175 units in comparison with 2022. Genesis, which became its own brand in 2015, has overtaken more established luxury rival Infiniti and is anticipated to see sales this yr will proceed to grow.

“Our standalone retail footprint is growing rapidly and the brand continues to achieve record sales in the United States,” Tedros Mengiste, vp of sales for Genesis Motor America, said last week.

Genesis too revealed a different concept dubbed the GV60 Magma Concept, a high-performance variant of the compact EV crossover.

The brand said it intends to develop a high-performance Magma model for each production vehicle in its existing lineup.

The concept vehicles were unveiled Monday evening ahead of their public debut later this week on the New York International Auto Show.
