Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has revealed plans to appoint over 40 new permanent secretaries to strengthen the state civil service and improve governance. The appointments scheduled for January 3, 2025 display the administration’s commitment to developing human capital as part of the broader goal of leaving a long-lasting legacy.
In his New Year’s message, Governor Makinde expressed optimism for the approaching 12 months, promising that his administration will work tirelessly to make 2025 one of the best 12 months yet. He emphasized that achieving this goal shall be a matter of thoughtful planning and execution, not mere probability.
On New Year’s Day, the governor also inspected two key infrastructure projects: the upgrade of the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport and the 110km Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road. He announced that the primary section of the circular road is to be accomplished by the third quarter of 2025, and the interchange and hydrotechnical facilities of the second section are to be accomplished this quarter.
Apart from the difficulty of infrastructure, Governor Makinde reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to effective policies and programs. He emphasized the importance of developing human capital and warranted residents that more details concerning the administration’s plans for 2025 shall be made available in subsequent updates.
Governor Makinde also reflected on his personal goals, including a renewed concentrate on personal development and reading. At the start of the 12 months, he plans to read Wole Soyinka’s book “Ibadan: The Penkelemes Years – Memoirs, 1945-1967” and encourage others to begin the 12 months with clear plans and resolutions.
As the Governor enters 2025 with daring initiatives and impressive goals, he stays confident of the people’s support and God’s grace to fulfill any challenges which will arise.
