Ford Motor (F) and General Motors (GM) on Friday reported their best annual U.S. latest vehicle sales figures since before the pandemic.
In 2024, Ford sold 2.08 million vehicles, up 4% year-over-year and the highest number since 2019’s 2.42 million vehicles. Sales within the fourth quarter increased by 9%.
GM sold 2.7 million vehicles last yr, up 4% from 2023 and probably the most since it sold 2.89 million vehicles in 2019. Sales within the fourth quarter increased by 21%.
Both firms have seen growth in the electrical vehicle (EV) market. Ford sold a complete of 285,291 hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles, up 38%, while GM electric vehicle sales increased 50% to 114,432 vehicles.
Ford shares rose 2.6% on Friday and GM shares rose 0.6%. Ford shares are down 19% in 2024, while GM is up 48%.
