First class on Border? Not completely. But on Tuesday, the low-cost airline introduced a brand new addition to create more space on the front of its tightly packed planes – with out a neighbor within the middle seat.
For flights starting April 10, Frontier will offer UpFront Plus in the primary two rows of Airbus aircraft, where it’ll block middle seat sales. An airline spokeswoman said these seats will even provide 4 to 5 inches more legroom in comparison with most airplane seats.
Prices start at $49 for reservations made by March 20 for flights April 10-30, but a spokeswoman said the seat option “is not intended to be a limited-time offer.”
Low-cost carrier airlines, e.g Ghost and Frontier to such giants as Delta, United AND American they were on the lookout for ways to segment their cabins, sell customers more expensive products, or add fees for advance seat selection.
Another low-cost airline, Spirit, offers a “large front seat” in Airbus cabins. The recent Frontier option will not be a brand new seat, however it is arranged in a different way than many of the plane.
Fees are particularly necessary for low-cost airlines, which charge more on top of the bottom fare for all the things from seat selection at hand luggage. Last 12 months, Frontier brought in a median of $42 per passenger in airfares, down 22% from 2022, while non-fare revenues increased 1% to almost $74 per passenger.
