On Friday, the press secretary of the White House Karoline Leavitt said that Trump is an “optimist” about the conclusion of a contract with China regarding tariffs. Currently, Beijing has 84% tariff for American imports.
“The president clearly expressed that he was open to a contract with China,” said Leavitt. She also said that Trump would “be kind if China intends to conclude a contract with the United States.”
